Avionic Switching
Units
Butler National Corporation has been providing dependable
switching unit products to the commercial aviation industry
for over thirty years. Each new McDonnell Douglas DC8, DC9,
MD 11, MD-80, MD 90 or DC10 delivered will have Butler National
Switching Units on board to handle the complex task of switching
hundreds of communication navigation, and flight control functions
simultaneously at the flip of a switch.
Any equipment installed in today's commercial aircraft must
be rugged and dependable. Because the performance of the switching
operation is mechanical in nature, the operation of the unit
will be unaffected by voltage variations on the aircraft bus.
There are no adjustments or electronic calibrations to perform,
so scheduled periodic maintenance is not required. The Butler
National Switching Unit may well be the most reliable item
in the avionics package.
Each Butler National Switching Unit is housed in a conventional
ATR enclosure for convenient mounting in the standard radio
rack. Light weight and undemanding, most switching units will
weigh less than seven pounds and consume less than two watts
from the aircraft power source.
The operation of these units are unaffected by voltage variations
on the aircraft bus. There are no adjustments or electronic
calibrations to perform, so scheduled periodic maintenance
is not required. The Butler National Switching Unit may well
be the most reliable item in the avionics package.
