Avcon Overview
Our
Business:
The aircraft modification segment, Avcon, modifies business
and cargo type aircraft at our facility in Newton, Kansas.
The modifications include aircraft conversion from passenger
to freighter configuration, addition of aerial
photography capability, stability
enhancing modifications for Learjets, and other special
mission modifications.
Avcon also provides many custom FAA-approved solutions to
corporate business jet and cargo operators. Our most
recent solution is a RVSM package for the Learjet 20 Series
and 30 Series airplanes. RVSM is short for Reduced Vertical
Separation Minimums (allowing aircraft to fly closer together
in altitude).
We also offer many aerodynamic and stability improvement products
for selected business jet aircraft.
Our Customers:
An aircraft operator typically approaches Avcon for custom
modifications that may include aerial photography capabilities,
conversions to air ambulance, or from passenger to freighter
configurations. To modify aircraft in conpliance with
federal regulations, in almost all cases, a Supplemental
Type Certificate (STC) is required from the Federal Aviation
Administration (FAA). Avcon currently holds over 250 STC certificates
that allow modifications to be performed in conformity with
all FAA safety requirements.
Avcon offers customer specialty modifications on an individual
basis. We have a substantial list of regular customers that
includes Learjet, Inc., Flight International, Inc., Cessna
Aircraft, Beech Aircraft (Raytheon), Boeing, NASA, the United
States Air Force, Hawker Pacific, Continental Airlines, and
numerous international governments.
Our Products:
In addition to special mission products, Avcon offers many
commercial products. Avcon Fins
are a highly recommended retrofit for older Learjets, specifically
Models 35 and 36. The Avcon fins are mounted like the
fins of an arrow on the rear of the aircraft. When installed
with Avcon fins, the aircraft exhibit the same aerodynamic
stability and improved operating efficiency offered by newer
Learjet models. While enhancing performance, fins allow
the aircraft to maintain the outstanding range, speed, and
load carrying capabilities that make these planes among the
most popular business jets ever manufactured.
Avcon also features FAA certification of an extended
baggage door conversion that facilitates loading and unloading
of bulky cargo on King Air aircraft. Call us for additional
information about Avcon products.
This is only a brief summary of one of Butler National's
fastest growing subsidiaries, one that will continue to bring
state-of-the-art modifications to the business aircraft market.
